Calif. Alameda police arrested three boys - ages 15, 16 and 17 - Tuesday in connection with the murder of a teenage girl on Halloween night in a city park, authorities said.
The group was walking through the park when a group of young men approached and attempted to rob them, police said
Police said one of the would-be robbers started firing shots over their heads. The group scattered and hid behind trees.
Bayarsaikhan was shot in the back and died on the way to a hospital.
Preliminary information on possible gunmen are five to six Asian male juveniles, with slender builds, ranging from 5 foot 5 inches to 5 foot 8 inches and wearing dark clothing, officials said.
When an officer responded to the shooting, the suspects fled on an Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District bus, Fuentes said.
On Saturday night, friends and family of Bayarsaikhan held a memorial for her. They lit 1,000 tea lights.
Bayarsaikhan was a student at Alameda High School.
The Alameda Police Department implemented a hotline that is staffed by a police officer 24-hours a day looking for information on the case.
